  • Sometimes getting all the wax out is difficult.

These are the most important features to look for whenever I’m on the market for a wax warmer

  1. Capacity
  2. Heating speed
  3. Safety Features
  4. Temperature Control
  5. Portability

Capacity

Some of these wax warmers will be in different sizes and capacities. I guess some people want to make a different amount of waxes. So, when dealing with capacity its important to take into account any of your current and your future needs for the product.

For example, if you need more clarity, getting a big wax warmer would be necessary since you’re only one person doing the wax but you have a few clients then the big wax warmer would make sense. The big ones are commonly found in salons and wax parlors

Why it’s important:

Too small: needs refilling to much

Too big: will waste your time, energy, and wax

Heating speed

You want to work fast. Don’t you. Well, that’s where the heating speed comes into play. Most wax warmers come with a number of thermostats or adjustable temperatures. This allows you to select whichever temperature you want.  You would want your warmer to heat up within 10 minutes.

Why it’s important:

Being able to heat the wax quickly enables you to work and remove your hair in a short amount of time.

Temp Control

If you’re not paying attention to the wax warmer, you better believe the wax can get burned since it’s on high temperatures. I’ve done this a number of times years ago. The best wax warmers will always have adjustable temperature control. So, you don’t have to worry about it.

Why it’s important: getting a good temperature for your wax to melt ensures that there is even HEAT DISTRIBUTION. So, all the wax melts together. Also, you may be able to control the temperature and not end up burning your wax neither.

Safety features

Safety features are the holy grail of wax warmers. This is a feature I look for in all of my electronic devices. Especially medium-sized or big ones that can take up a lot of space. For example. Having a shutoff feature is great. This helps the warmer from overheating and burning (something that a lot of electronic devices can go through)

Some even come with a see-through cover. Sometimes you just can’t wait or help yourself, you just have to watch the wax melt. It’s like looking at your food in the microwave. But I believe the best safety feature is the shutoff feature and heat level indicators. You must know what temperature you’re at.

Why it’s important:

It’s just for safety precautions. You want to be safe. Especially if you have children around or even small pets.

Portability:

Are you a traveler? Or just move around a lot? Let’s say you go someplace that doesn’t have any beauty parlor or salon for you to go to. then a device that you can carry around is a lot more convenient, isn’t it?

Or maybe you want to carry it to different parts of your home. Then look for something light, good size, and ergonomic.

Why it’s important:

It’s not really all that important. But because I’m a frequent traveler, some of the locations that I visit will either have no salon or they are very inefficient. So, for me, to carry this around is a big thing for me.

Versatile

I want mine to be very versatile. Since there are different types of wax beads that end up being melted into wax. You can have soft, or hard wax. Then your wax warmer should be able to handle it.

User friendliness

I think the apple company wanted to make their computers simple so that anyone can use them. That just how I like my wax warmers. They shouldn’t be complicated to use.

Why it’s important:

I just don’t like to be confused. When I’m using something.

Price

I don’t want to break an arm and a leg to purchase one of these.  You want it to provide all of these features without spending a fortune.

Other things to check for

  • Heat retention
  • Energy efficiency
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Controls, weight

Other type of wax warmers

  1. Classic Heaters
  2. Can Heaters
  3. Roll-on Heater Applicators
  4. Roll-on wax Heater Bases
  5. System and Combo Heaters

You’ve got some things to look for when you’re ready to purchase so down below are the top wax warmers of 2019 that you should consider when you’re ready to purchase.

Classic Heaters

They have one while some may have two slots. A majority of them come included with a pot on the inside made from aluminum. That is where you’ll put the wax bars or wax beans. Then they are melted. Some of the pots are removable others aren’t. But they usually are.

Some don’t have a spare pot at all. Soft wax can be used but that is depending on the manufacturer and whether or not an adapter is needed.

You know what is a great choice for this type of wax heater. The European Wax Warmer.

Can heaters

These heaters have been adapted for the melting of soft wax cans. The pots are specifically made for the soft wax cans. The metal exterior also improves the durability of these heaters. One thing I’ve found cool about them is that you can place your soft wax can on the wax warmer opening to warm it. And it can stay there while you’re doing the waxing treatment.

An excellent can heater is something like the Double European Can warmer

Roll-on Wax Heater Applicators

They are for the clean, easy, application that you may be looking for. You can walk into your favorite or local salon and while you’re getting treatment, ask them what they use for wax warming. Another benefit for these cartridges is that they can be heated for the optimal temperature. Plus, you can directly apply it to your body.

See, some people want their wax to be used whenever they want. But in order for it to be ready at any time. The wax must be warm enough, the thermostat keeps the wax warm. It keeps it a good temperature. There are small roll-on applications and there is also heater/applicator those types also. These are more useful for the face.

Roll-on Wax Heater Bases

When I was still working inside salons, these were things that the salon absolutely needed. Every now and then we would use the classic regular wax heater and sometimes even sugar wax. But these I would prefer we used all the time.

Every now and then we would use these. They can have roll-on wax cartridges that are heated altogether. They do this while having a couple of other warmers staying heated. This way they’ll be ready when we would start waxing.  Estheticians are happy for this because they will ready to get to work quickly since they won’t be waiting long for the roll-on wax cartridges to be used.

There are some good choices to pick from such as the Double Base For Roll-On Heater Applicator or Base For 8 Roll-Ons

System and Combo Wax Heaters

For hard wax, they’ll have either one or maybe two pots you can place them in. But they do have the ability to adapt to warm up soft wax cans. Some will include a number of roll-on wax bases. I think these are an item that professional waxers and salons should have. Especially if you want to use all types of waxes available at any given time.

The system wax combi wax heater is great for this

Note: The type you’ll most likely looking forward to using is the classic electronic wax warmer. These are the holy grail of the “Do it yourself” wax hair removal industry.

How do you use your wax heater?

They all have a simple mechanism that can be used.

  • On and off button
  • Aluminum Pot
  • Removable Pot
  • Temperature Control button

A resistor within the heater pots of these devices (roll-on applicators and wax warmers) gives the necessary energy that increases temperature. This will melt the wax.

You have to set the temperature button to the right setting for it be properly melted. When your wax hits the right temperature and texture that you want, you can lower that temperature a bit. The lower temperature holds your wax at a decent temperature. Now soft cans can go right into your wax warmer.

Roll-on applicators can be charged as well. Just plug it in and wait for the light signal (usually a little red light) to turn on. The roll-on heater applicators share the same shape as roll-on cartridges. They are also made with metal sheets on the inside. Those metal sheets will heat up and melt the wax.

Choosing the right quality brands when you decide to purchase your waxing equipment is a big part of wax yourself. Sure, you can make sugar wax, but what if you prefer hot wax or soft wax.

Then you need a wax warmer. But you don’t want to spend your hard-earned money on some of these devices if you’re going to replace the device every year or two after you bought it. So proper cleaning and practicing the proper safety measures along with good maintenance are very important to get the most out of your wax heater.

How to heat the wax without a warmer?

Use a microwave. Don’t use an oven. Put the container in a microwave, make sure it’s covered either with a lid, paper towel or cloth. This will prevent the wax from bubbling out. Microwave for about 15 to 30 seconds.

You can remove the wax. Remove your lid and take a wooden wax stirrer to mix around the wax a little. You can put back in the microwave for about 15 to 30 seconds. now you can remove it from the microwave. It can be quite warm but hopefully, it’s not hot. If necessary, microwave it again until it is warmed thoroughly.

How to Warm Gigi Wax With no wax warmer

Gigi wax is a popular wax that is used in salons and sometimes at home. They are usually heated within its cooperant product the GiGi wax warmer. It can be a little time-consuming. It can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes to heat the wax. This isn’t for the people who are in a rush. So, a microwave would be perfect for you to heat it up quickly. As soon as your done warming the wax without a warmer, it’ll cool really quick. It’s important to use the wax as soon as your done heating it up.

Gigi wax comes in a metal container. The beans will come in a bag. The metal is unsafe for the microwave, so take a spoon or spatula to scoop out a small amount into a bowl or any other container that can be used in a microwave.

Here’s what I wouldn’t do with my wax warmer

These are some things I think you should absolutely not do and don’ts for your wax heaters that I’ve come to practice.

Don’t heat without the wax inside the pot

Not much to explain here, the wax warmer will have damage to the electrical system and it will fail.

Don’t leave your heater on during the night

Doing this can shorten the device’s lifespan and it can increase the likelihood of your wax being contaminated. This can create a bad environment for you, your clients, or co-workers

Don’t let soak in water

This is an obvious one. If it’s an electronic device, there shall be no soaking in the water. But there shouldn’t be any removing of the wax with water anyway since the water doesn’t work to well when its time to remove wax.

Shut the power off before you start cleaning

You want to have patience and wait. The wax should be heated before you end up cleaning it off. But I wouldn’t do any of this while the device still has its plug in the outlet. you can turn it off, but to make your you’re safe, I would turn it off and unplug it. Remove the wax and clean off the device.

Proper maintenance is always needed when dealing with wax. You’ll find those great estheticians will always do they clients the best service by obeying the rules. Rules that help to ensure your safety and protect you from any hygienic problems that may occur.

How do you clean a wax warmer?

When you start cleaning. Leave the warmer off. But make sure it’s still pretty hot or warm. Waiting for your wax to cool off is not the best option for cleaning. Because when the wax is at a temperature such as room temperature it isn’t easy to take off the pot. I wouldn’t want you to scorch your hands or anything. When you finished the last treatment. I’ll for the wax to turn to liquid form by letting it melt.

Save whatever you can store for later.

Look at your wax pot, if there is still wax there. Pour the wax out. I like to put mine into reusable containers. You should do the same. And just use for later.

Using wax strips to clean the warmer

Once you’ve finished step 2 you can take some wax strips or a paper cloth rub off any left-over wax. Using cotton pads would be inefficient. The cotton pads will break apart and stick onto the wax paste. This will only cause more of a mess. You can even opt for couch rolls with wax removing oils.

Sterilize your waxing pot

Now is the time to get rid of germs and disinfect the products that you’ve used. You must decontaminate the items you’re working with. The items you can’t just throw away. Also sterilize the tweezers, the metallic spatulas, and pots where wax is placed in. I like to use UV towel warmer sterilizers, and sprays. If you can get your hands on these, then you can use boiling water.

Using oils on your wax warmers

Mineral oil and a piece of cloth can help with the stains and drips that may be in your wax warmer. But be wary of the types of oils you may be using. Certain solvents and acidic cleaners being used on the plastic in your wax warmer can become damaged and cause cracks or early deterioration. Heat the wax pot with a little higher temperature than you’re used to.

Wait until the melted wax has a thin consistency

Remove the inner pot on the inside (if you can’t remove it, it’s okay, just skip this step), if there is melted wax pour it into a container for storage. Don’t pour any of the old wax into your drain. That can damage your plumbing.

  • Let the inner container cool down a bit
  • Pour some of your oil in the container and watch the wax dissolve
  • You can use a scraper or spatula to scrub off stubborn pieces of wax, then when all the wax is dissolved, I would use a paper towel to wipe off the inside of the pot
Paper collars can prevent damage

Paper collars properly placed around your waxing containers can help decrease the look of the stains that have accumulated on your warmer.

Conclusion

Now your wax should be completely removed. I like to wash it with some warm water. Then I’ll fill the bucket with some sort of disinfectant solution. Usually, the solution comes with a recommended amount of time to leave on whatever you’re cleaning. So, leave it on for the recommended amount of time. Rinse out the container and let it dry out.

What type of oil to use to clean your warmer?

Sometimes I use baby oil. Then there’s almond oil, which is good, cooking oil, or olive oil. Since its pretty cheap but there are still other products out there that are specifically made for cleaning a wax pot such as this one. Or if you can find any mineral based oil that you like to use, then use that.
