Never once did i ever think can you shave in a bathtub? I would just shave, if i made a mess, then obviously clean up. But then my roommate wanted to sit down with me and talk about it. That’s when i realized this can be a issue. ever since then I just shave properly, make sure not to get any in the drain, etc.

Can you shave in a bathtub?

Of course, you can. It’s entirely possible for you to shave in a bathtub, but like everything else you do. There are consequences to your actions. One being damage to your plumbing. You will run the risk of clogging your drain.

Your hair can clog up the drain and cause a few plumbing problems.

Is it gross to shave in the bath?

No. It can only be gross when you’re sharing the bathroom with others. I think it all depends on whether or not you’re living with other people.

Because things that you consider to be gross won’t be gross to others. So, it’s a perspective type of thing.

Your hair can clog up the drain and cause a few plumbing problems.

Why would it be gross to shave in your bath?

Look at it from your point of view. If you are living by yourself and you shave in the bath, you wouldn’t have any problem shaving in YOUR bath. Because it’s yours. Now, imagine your living with others.

Maybe you still live with your parents and siblings or you’re living on your own, but you have a roommate. Imagine going to the bath and see hair all over the tub that you know doesn’t belong to you. Don’t you think it’s gross?

Difference between your shower and bathtub?

Just in case you didn’t know your shower and bathtub are two different things. The water delivery method of both is entirely different. If you’re in a shower, then you’re standing up and water is projected on to your body from all sides or from on top with warm or hot water.

The, on the other hand, get its water from a pipe that is right above the drain. But the two are susceptible to clogging especially by your hairs since they both have a drain.

I feel gross shaving in my dorm bathroom, where do people shave in college?

You can shave in the community bathroom. That’s where most people shave. Others shave in their room.

They’ll use an electric shaver, so they don’t need any shaving cream or water. So, they trim their beard or pubes in the room. And they have a trashcan underneath. Just make sure if there is a mess that you clean after yourself.

I know you feel gross but that may be a feeling you have because you’re not confident in your hygiene. If you know you’re a clean person and if you make a mess, then clean up after yourself. Just make sure if you make a mess that you clean up after yourself. I know you’re living in a dorm now, but you just have to make the adjustment.

Is it better to shave before or after a bath?

Before a bath. I find that while I’m in the bath. It’s a bit difficult to rinse off the razor blade and my skin with the leftover hairs on it. It’ll flow away but then it can flow back on to me.

Since we’re in a bathtub it has nowhere to go. In the shower, you have a consistent flow of water raining down on you. Perfect for rinsing your blade and left-over hairs.

How should I shave in the shower?

  1. Get a shower mat
  2. Exfoliate your skin
  3. Look for a comfortable position
  4. Soak your skin
  5. Get your razor, and shaving gel or cream
  6. Start shaving

Step 1

Grab a hold of a shower mat. They help to prevent you from slipping. The shower floor can obviously get pretty slippery especially if you plan on shaving in the shower. The shower mat has a few adhesive ends on the bottom to hold itself in place.

Step 2

You have to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating with a loofah or scrub can help prepare your skin for shaving. Exfoliating removes some of the dead skin cells that have accumulated on your skin. Removing them can help deal with the cleaning of your razor blade.

Step 3

Get a comfortable position when you enter the shower. Sometimes I carry a little stool with me inside the shower and sit on that. This makes it more comfortable to shave.

Step 4

Got to soak your skin. Doing this, I find will give my skin enough time, maybe two to five minutes. I do this because I believe it helps to avoid irritating my skin.

Step 5

A sharp razor with a great grip is needed. Shaving in the shower can be quite tricky, even trickier when you have the shower running. So, something with a great handle is always needed. And sharp razor blades are a must. Not just for the shower. They prevent a lot of things from skin irritation to nicks and ticks.

Step 6

Throw on some shaving gel. Shaving gel holds in some of the moisture. It obviously helps the razor move over your skin with ease.

Step 7

Steady strokes are the way to go. I like to use light, steady strokes to shave within the direction of your hair growth. I’ve heard you can get a closer shave when you go against the grain. Now that your finished shaving, pat your skin dry and add some moisturizer.

  1. Set right water level
  2. Exfoliate your skin
  3. Check temperature for the water

Set right water level

The water level has to just right, you don’t want the water to be dripping over the bathtub and you want enough water to be able to lift certain body parts out of the water to shave it.

Exfoliate your skin

Usually since I’m sitting in the bathtub ill skip this step and just sit in the water and let my skin soak for a while. But for beginner purposes you can choose to do this step. You should be using a loofah and scrub that can get your skin ready for your shaving. You can gently rub the scrub/loofah across your skin in the tub a few times.

Check temperature for the water

Make sure water temperature is good

Hot boiling water can cause skin irritation. Doesn’t have to be cold. But should be warm to touch

Get your razor, and shaving gel or cream

You want to use steady and slow shaving strokes. Make a few passes with the blade and rinse it off. Then start over again.

Start shaving

You’re going to have to find a comfortable position while sitting in the bathtub. You can hold your leg up and put it onto the side of the bathtub in order to shave it.

Can you shave in the shower without shaving cream?

Absolutely. All you must do is switch out your shaving cream for another shaving lubricant. You can use shaving gel or oil. I know water and oil don’t mix, but it’s not like you’re going to right under the water when you turn on the faucet.

I suggest you use shampoo or some sort of conditioner. You can even use soap if you like. And depending on how tough your skin is you can use just water. Water and your razor. That’s it but not everyone’s

Does shaving hair clog drain?

Yes, it can. I know your hair is so smooth and not curly but on its surface is a very scaled texture. When the hairs move around your drain, guess what? They begin to come together and stick. Now you got a clog on your hands.

If you have long hair. If you’re trimming your pubes, beard, legs, make sure to trim them down a bit.

Do girls shave in the shower?

All the time I know I do. You know what else you can do in the shower. Brush your teeth. It’s better to just do all that in the shower and get it out of the way.

Because if not, you have to get out the shower and then shave.
