How To Get rid of Shadow After Shaving?

How To Get rid of Shadow After Shaving?

This is a common problem among men, when you’re a teenager you learn the art of shaving. You then want to find out how to get rid of your razor bumps, how to get rid of your razor burn, or even how to get rid of ingrown hairs. All of these come from shaving, but no one ever really told me about how to get rid of shadow after shaving? So, you know what I thought that I would spread some of the knowledge I’ve found to be useful.

Facial hair shaving may require a little more practice than other parts of shaving. Facial shadows are something caused by your short, bristling hair. When I touched it can feel like sandpaper. It also can create a sloppy appearance. It can also be a sign that you never learned the proper way of shaving. Either that or are notorious skippers, known for skipping steps in the shaving process.

Here are the steps to ensure you have a good shave and prevent the dreaded 5’0 clock shadow.

Shower or bathe with some hot water, then wash your face with the moisturizing soap.

Pat your face dry with a towel. Your skin should be damp but not dry or dripping wet.

Take your shaving brush if you have one, dip into the water, dip into the shaving cream, now massage it on your face with circular motions in an upward position on your face.

Place your hand at the temple of your face and pull the skin back, doing this ensures the shaving surface area is firm and taut. Meaning the skin is straight, not round or curved.

Now use even strokes, that is short. Glide your razor over the facial hair in the direction of your hair growth. Also known as shaving with the grain. Only gentle pressure is needed when you’re shaving.

To get an idea of the direction of your facial hair growth, gently glide your fingers across the areas of your face, jawline, chin, cheeks, and neck. It’s important to understand this because by now if you’ve been following the steps then you already have shaved your face, but now there are short hairs that must be properly removed to get rid of the shadow.

PLEASE MAKE A MENTAL NOTE OF THIS.

  • Now lather up some shaving cream. Pull back your skin again.
  • Now shave against the grain, light and short strokes should be used. DO NOT SHAVE AGAINST THE GRAIN IF YOU HAVE NO CREAM OR YOUR BLADE ISN’T SHARP.
  • Rinse off the shaving products and loose hairs. Now it’s time to close your pores, you can do this with either cool or cold water. Wash your face with it or wet a rag and place it on your face, for up to 40 seconds.
  • Pat your face dry. Don’t wipe. Your skin may be sensitive and might require a gentle touch after shaving.

You can use aftershave if you want.

So, there are all the steps to shaving your face. Did you notice the step to NOT miss to remove your 5’o clock shadow after shaving? Still miss it. Okay, it’s step 7. When you start to reapply the shaving cream again to shave one last time.

What is the five o’clock shadow?

It’s just facial hair growth that creates a slightly dark bearded appearance on your face, neck, or chin. This occurs because your facial hair is growing back so the stubble gives off this appearance. Also, when you shave you could’ve missed a few steps in the shaving process. It comes down to not shaving enough or your blade must dull.

Where did the term “five o’clock shadow” come from?

The term five o’clock shadow came from men shaving in the morning but then later in the day their beards would start to grow again later in the evening. That’s how fast the stubble would grow back. It can give off a unique style if that’s what you’re into or you’ll dread the shaving process since you’ll have to shave constantly to get that clean-shaven look.

How to get rid of shadow after shaving armpits?

You can shave your armpits two times a day. Shaving cream and make sure the razor you’re shaving with is sharp. The reason you would shave more than once a day is to help with the shadow of the armpits. It’s similar to shaving your face and you a 5 o’clock shadow there. But it would be better to use wax and rip the hair out from the pore. Then you won’t have a 5 o’clock shadow since it would take a while for stubble to show.

Electric vs. Razor: Which is best for getting rid of 5 o’clock shadow?

Razor blades are the best option. Being that they can get the closest to the skin and shave it properly. The electric option is mostly for clean-up and trimming hairs down a bit. Not forgetting a smooth face. And when you want to get rid of the shadow, you need to get as close to the face as possible. The electric option may have oscillating blades and will look impressive. But there is no proof that this may be a better option. When talking about the speed of the shaving process, electric will always win. So, if that is what you’re looking for then go for that.

The only way to hide is to use makeup. But I would recommend you leave it as is. It can be a new style you’re trying out. How to hide a five o’clock shadow?

(for women, transgenders, and crossdressers)

There are essentially four items that are needed to hide the …

First, you’ll need a corrector, pink color or red. Whichever color you like is your preference. The color corrector can neutralize the tint color of the shadow.

But choosing a color corrector is based on the tone of your skin.

  • Pink color corrector for light skin tone
  • Red color corrector for darker skin tone.

You can’t go wrong with using a color corrector for the face that is specifically made for the face. Use it: take a tiny makeup brush and brush a light layer of color corrector around the area you’re trying to disguise.

Medium coverage liquid foundation

Medium coverage over heavy formula liquid foundation is the best choice. Put slim layers to create coverage and not use one big layer of heavy foundation.

Use it: use a foundation brush and not your hand or sponge. Put on a thin layer and let it dry.

Loose powder

Loose powder is the next item to get the job done. Choose a powder that has a pigment and not a see-through type.

Applying the powder: Take a big powder brush and put on a good amount of powder. Avoid stroking motions because doing that can damage your foundation. When it’s dried out, take the brush and remove some of the powder. Use soft strokes.

Powder foundation

This is the final step and applying the final layer of coverage with a powder foundation. The powder foundation is great for extra coverage on areas that may need it.

Use it: you’ll need a makeup sponge, you want to put on one to two at maximum thin layers of powder foundation over the leftover shadow that you see. And you’re finished.

If you have a light beard, the previously mentioned items might be enough. If not, the final step is to get an additional layer of coverage by using a powder foundation.
